With just one day to go until the Rockhampton River Festival, the curtains have been pulled back for a sneak peek of one of the spectacular cabaret shows set to dazzle crowds at this year’s headline act - Spiegelzelt.

The 100-year old Spiegeltent is a decadent nightclub experience which pairs vaudevillian comedy with young Hollywood cabaret and had already seen sold out performances more than a week out from tomorrow’s opening.

Mayor Margaret Strelow said today’s glimpse into one of the highly anticipated shows was sure to whet the appetite of festival goers.

“Having the Spiegeltent in Rockhampton is an absolute coup for our city and after seeing today’s dress rehearsal, I have no doubts that festival goers are going to absolutely adore this incredible theatrical experience,” Mayor Strelow said.

“The Friday night opener sold out earlier this month and that appetite for this dazzling dance and music event has continued with Saturday night’s earlier show selling out as well.

“Don’t worry though – there are plenty of shows during River Festival featuring a number of different styles and time slots, so make sure you head to the website to book your ticket.

“This wonderful attraction will also be staying for the week after the festival and I hope as many Rockhampton residents get to see it as possible as it truly is an experience you’ll never forget.

“While the Spiegeltent looks truly amazing from the outside it’s not until you step onto those old timber floors and see the light coming through the stained glass windows that you get the full experience.

“This truly is a magnificent attraction to have at this year’s event and will complement a truly incredible set up with markets, food vans, fireworks, art installations, live music and so much more,” Mayor Strelow said.
