Mayor Teo Ho Pin, Minister of the Singaporean Government, lead a delegation to Rockhampton today to explore trade and collaboration opportunities.

The return visit by Mayor Teo Ho Pin comes after Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow’s trade mission to Singapore last November where she revealed there was heightened interest from Singapore to do business in the Rockhampton Region and an eagerness to learn about our best practices.

Mayor Strelow said she was extremely impressed with the calibre of members in the delegation which covered a wide range of industries including logistics, agriculture, property development, manufacturing and tourism.

“This time Mayor Teo has brought a trade delegation with him to look at opportunities in Rockhampton and also to have a close relationship, governmment to government, about the sorts of things we do with volunteers, the health sector and with general governance of our community, so it’s a greaty opportunity for us,” Mayor Strelow said.

Mayor Teo Ho Pin has been involved in Community Development work for almost 30 years and as the Mayor of North West District, he is responsible for the implementation of community development programmes for 719,000 residents living in the District.

“In terms of investment, Singapore is such an important potential investor in our region and we think we’re absolutely right for direct investment now by Singaporean business people and the opportunities for collaborating generally are boundless.”
