Rockhampton Regional Council’s first round of the Community Assistance Program for 2016/2017 will open on Monday 27 June.

Council’s Communities Committee Chair Councillor Rose Swadling said the program continued to support local not-for-profit organisations with their events, activities and facilities.

“We want our local organisations to be able to showcase their exciting events and activities throughout the year. In the last round, Council granted more than $55,000 to local community groups and we’re hoping it will inspire other community organisations to apply,” Cr Swadling said.

“In the next six months we’ll see groups hosting a range of events that offer exciting activities for the whole community, or adding features such as access ramps or seating to their well-used facilities; all helping to add to the amenity and vitality of our area.

“It’s about helping those groups achieve their goals so our entire community can have opportunities to immerse themselves in anything and everything from sport, to arts and crafts, and other culturally diverse activities.”

Community groups need to meet specific criteria relating to each grant type, which are outlined in the fact sheets found on Council’s website.

The first round of 2016/2017 Community Assistance Program will open on Monday 27 June and closes on Monday 25 July.
