Search your bookcases, cupboards and DVD racks now and return any overdue library items to Rockhampton Regional Libraries during a special two-week amnesty period from 30 November to 14 December 2015.

Instead of paying overdue fines on these items library members can donate a non-perishable food item which will be distributed to AnglicareCQ.

Rockhampton Regional Council’s Communities Committee Chair Councillor Rose Swadling said the initiative was keeping with the Christmas spirit leading up to the festive season.

“It’s helping our libraries locate missing stock and importantly helping those in the community who are in need this Christmas,” Cr Swadling said.

“We’re really encouraging residents to return their overdue library books, CDs, DVDS or any other library items to any of our libraries.

“There may be a picture book found underneath a child’s bed or a CD or DVD accidently left inside a player. These are just some of the items that can be returned.

“The overdue fines can be paid by donating cans of baked beans, packets of pasta or any non-perishable food item with a suitable use-by date.”

Specially marked donation boxes will be set up at the Rockhampton Regional Library, Mount Morgan Library and North Rockhampton Library during the period.

Patrons need to hand items to staff at the Customer Service desk at each library to have the loan discharged and the late fees processed.
